One feature you shouldn't look for in open earbuds is noise reduction, which relies on a mix of passive sound isolation and microphones to measure your environment and reverse the polarity of external sound frequencies to “cancel” them. The basic physics of the process needs to work effectively. While there are indeed some semi-open earbuds (such as the AirPods 4), and even some fully open earbuds offer noise reduction, usually only lower frequencies see noise reduction, which is usually very limited.
