FM Nirmala Sitharaman comments on the progress of major financial inclusion programs

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman chaired a high-level meeting to review the implementation and progress of the government's financial inclusion plan on Tuesday, May 13.

The meeting focused on a range of initiatives, including Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Atal Pension Yojana (APY), Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY), Indian Position (SUPI), Atmanirbhar Nidhi (PM Svanidhi) of PM Street vendors, PM Vishwakarma, PM Surya Ghar Yojana, Kisan Credit Card (KCC), PM Vidyalakshmi Program, and Credit Guarantee Program (CGTMSE) for Micro and Small Businesses.

During the meeting, Sitharaman emphasized the need to further strengthen financial inclusion by ensuring that the program is effectively reaching a wider population.

FM also highlights the importance of improving the customer experience of banking and financial services ecosystems across the country.

“The Minister of Finance stressed the need to strengthen financial inclusion programs by bringing the masses into its scope and highlighting the importance of enhancing the customer experience across banks,” the Ministry of Finance said.

According to the ministry, introductions were also made during the meeting secretary and senior officials.
