Angrest’s family confirmed that the items belonging to Matan Angrest, known as one of the 20 resident hostages still held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip, were recovered by the International Wife Recognition (IDF) on Friday.
His mother Anat posted on X/Twitter: “Matan’s schoolbag is back to me this week in black plastic bags. How and when will Matan return? Why do I have to continue receiving items that prove his condition instead of Matan himself?
She told Ynet: “They told me they found Matan’s schoolbag and it would take two days to get to me. I don’t understand what it is. This bag was Matan’s childhood.

“He was seriously injured in a tank on the morning of October 7 and alienated to Gaza after a huge abuse,” she added. “Since then, he has been questioned, asthma attacks, severe burns, and the wound is being infected by the humidity in the tunnel.
“When Edan Alexander was released, we realized we could talk about soldiers. We had to have tough negotiations and insist on Matan’s release in his condition.”

Anat also mentioned to Ynet that she had not cooked since her son was taken hostage. “When Madan comes back, I’ll go back to cook. Steak, Shakshuka, everything he loves. What I’m most looking forward to is sitting next to him on Saturday morning, talking with Shakshuka and hearing what he’s going through.”
Anath added that Matan wanted to be a soldier that he even “hidden in the army and suffered asthma.”
Matan’s father Haggai claimed on 103fm radio on Tuesday that he might be released in the last exchange if information about his son’s condition had been conveyed. ”
Earlier last month, the family released new footage of Matan’s kidnapping to Gaza, which was filmed by terrorists and caught by the IDF, indicating that Matan was withdrawn from the tank and he was thrown into dozens of terrorists who lynched him.
In March, Hamas released a promotional video that showed an angry life, and he has been imprisoned in Gaza since October 7.
