Jenny Hoyos shares secrets to transforming YouTube views into business

Jenny Hoyos is only 19 years old, but she has one or two things to say about how you should spend money.

“I’m a creator, but I’m an entrepreneur. To maintain a creator’s career, entrepreneurship is very important. And, I mean understanding the business, because there are a lot of creators who know how to understand how to get perspectives, but they don’t know how to see them.”

She has the ability to educate young audiences on responsible spending, such as making money on arcade games, using AI to make money on YouTube, and allowing her dogs to trade stocks. But lately, she has been doing a lot of short stuff from her relationship with her mom to everything about cooking. This kind of content is very good for her, with 9.15 million subscribers on YouTube, 186,000 followers on Tiktok, and 172,000 followers on Instagram.

We sat down at Hoyos at Vidcon, a featured creator who talks about her workflow, the inspiration behind the video and how she monetizes her content.

If you had a financial advice for your followers, what would it be?

The first thing is that people tend to get stuck in things that want to show that they have money and look cool. It’s funny because everyone is joking, but it makes me a little sad. Some people can’t afford it, and I don’t want them to feel sad. That’s why I don’t like showing if I have something good or something like that because I don’t want to make others feel bad, but, no matter how much money I have, I will never do it.

So, I will tell people to be careful about their money and not care what others have. There are a lot of people buying Mercedes and don’t even have money – they pay a loan for it. This doesn’t mean anything.

Another suggestion is: good quality – even if I say to save your money and pay attention to your money, besides the food. Your food must be of the highest quality as this will prevent you from getting sick.

Like groceries or go out?

Don’t go out. Get good groceries. Get quality food. I know some people will be cheap on food and then they go to Mercedes to spend. Then they got sick in the beautiful car.

How do you find inspiration for videos?

Just life. I’m trying to capture the relevant moments. Everything is a viral video. Is something you can recreate embarrassing? That’s a video.

What other tips for making viral videos?

Study what other people are doing and twist it. Combine the trend or try to reverse the trend. If people do something in blue, try doing it in red.

Do you use AI at all?

Yes. I love it for brainstorming, especially if I see a trend and I want to distort it. I brainstorm with AI and choose the best option.

So you use it as a conceptual tool. Do you use it as a creation tool as well?

The whole process, yes. I am just my partner and assistant. Then I have to choose what benefits because it is not always good.

Which AI system do you use?

I love them all, but Google Gemini is really good.

Can you guide me through the process from conception to publishing?

I have different ideas. It’s either related, and I can shoot it, like it happens in real life, and I just recreate that moment. But if I want to take a trend or something someone else does, it’s an outlier, I’ll say [to AI],’I want to make a video around this video. Give me a different hook or a way to do this. “And it gave me a bunch of different hooks. Because hooks are your idea. I didn’t even think about it, “Oh, what is a viral video?” “I just thought about what a virus hook is, what would shock people, and what would be a virus hook. Then I chose it, and I thought, ‘Okay, what is the best reward?” And I gave me different ideas about different rewards. Then from there I filled the gap and I just did the same for each line. I took the video.

Do you use scripts?

Sometimes, but less than 50% of the time it is scripts.

Then did you shoot on your phone?

On my phone. It needs to look very relevant.

What do you want to edit?

I use Adobe Premier Pro on my computer.

Have you ever edited on your phone?

No, unless I do it like I do for my Instagram story. But for YouTube, I do it on the computer. You can definitely do it on your phone, but I like it on my computer because I like to save paper copies of everything to the server. I have a server with 100 trabytes. It contains all my shots and edits.

What do you use to edit your Instagram story?

I actually like to edit using Instagram. This is a new app, but I like to use it.

What is your platform teaching you about using sound?

The biggest thing is how much influence I have. It makes me want to use it more. One time I was on bean sprouts and I ran to the fans and she told me, “I’ve been waiting here for a few hours because I saw you go to this sprouts.” Their mom was like, “She saw you were eating these healthy meals, so she picked out from the sprouts, like what you were eating. Thank you for inspiring her to start eating fruits. I thought, there was no way. It was amazing. Like, first, it was so crazy that she found the place I went, which was shocking. But it was so good for her to eat fruits. The second part, she decided to get the same healthy groceries, which bothered me even more. I thought the third thing was like “Sprouting must sponsor me.”

How do you interact with communities outside of bean sprouts?

Responsive comments are everything, especially now they have voice messaging capabilities. The audience likes that. I want to interact with them as much as possible. The best way is to stream live, because you can interact with more people, and even polls, and more people will feel like they are interacting with the content. People want to be recognized and recognized. We try to do this for as many people as possible.

Which platforms will best help you create community growth?

Youtube. completely. Easy to do. Youtube. YouTube has excellent community features.

What was your first viral video?

This is a $3 burrito hacker. Essentially, I found this hacker, instead of spending $10 on burritos, spent $3. And it spreads so much, with more than 100 million views on the platform.

How do you maintain this virality to make sure it is more than just a popular miracle?

It’s all about content buckets, which is essentially when you create a series. Did it well? Create a series or format from it. After $3 Burrito Hack, I did a $1 coffee hack at McDonald’s. I started executing all these different hacks and then built the baseline ratings.
