Indian Railways offer 20% return under new festival plan

To avoid rush and ensure worry-free ticket booking experience during the upcoming peak season, the Railway Department said Saturday it has decided to develop a “roundtrip package” that offers discounted prices and rebates.
The move is designed to promote passengers, redistribute peak traffic during the wider period of the festival season and ensure optimal use of trains in both directions, including special trains.
Program details and applicability
“It has been decided to develop an experimental plan, a round trip fare called the “round trip fare,” the railway department said.
According to the ministry, the program will apply to passengers who choose to return to their journey during the prescribed period. Under this plan, when booking tickets for the forward and return journey of the same set of passengers will be discounted and passenger details remain the same on both legs.
Bookings will be open from August 14, and booking period (ARP) will be on October 13.
Booking window and date
“At the train start date between October 13, 2025 and October 26, 2025, the ticket should be booked first, followed by a return trip ticket between November 17, 2025 and December 1, 2025,” the ministry said.
The booking period does not apply to booking a return trip.
Key conditions for exploiting interests
- Ticket bookings are only for confirmation in both directions.
- Rewarding the base fare for the trip only will receive a 20% rebate.
