Indigo orders another 30 Airbus A350 aircraft

Indigo announced on Sunday that it had placed orders for another 30 Airbus A350 on 30 orders already placed with the French aircraft manufacturer.

Indigo CEO Pieter Elbers said when announcing the order that the delivery of the aircraft will begin in 2027.

“Last year, Indigo signed a deal with Airbus to buy 30 Airbus 350 900 with 30 companies and 70 buy rights, and today we are going to confirm that 30 of the 70 companies also confirmed it as a company order,” the CEO said in a press conference.

“We will sign a memorandum of understanding for this and we will sign it here and now,” the CEO added in a signing agreement with Airbus.

In April 2024, Indigo placed an order for 30 A350 aircraft and retained the option to purchase 70 such aircraft in the future.

Indigo has more than 900 aircraft in total and is scheduled to be delivered in the next few years.

In June 2023, Indigo ordered the largest single-air order ever for any airline with 500 aircraft. As a result, the A320 family aircraft have an outstanding order volume of nearly 1,000 aircraft that have not been delivered in the next decade.

The orders will raise the strategic relationship between Indigo and Airbus to unprecedented levels in terms of depth, breadth and scale, the airline said earlier.

With Indigo’s current fleet, nearly 1,000 A320 family aircraft have not been delivered yet, and today’s aircraft orders, Indigo not only can well expand and dense its unrivaled network, but it is also important that Indigo will play its role in fulfilling the stated mission of the Indian government to become an aviation leader.
