Ben-Gvir accuses Germany of “re-supporting Nazism” when FM visits Israel

Ben-Gvir’s remarks have sparked condemnation by FM Gideon Sa’ar, who called the far-right minister’s remarks “unnecessary and harmful”.

National Security Minister Itama Ben-Gvir accused Germany of “re-supporting Nazism” on Thursday after Berlin’s Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul visited Israel and condemned Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar.

Wadephul issued a statement earlier Thursday saying that recognition of the Palestinian state is more about the end of a two-state solution at the end of a negotiation, but the process must begin immediately, warning Berlin would respond to “unilateral steps.”

Given the threat of public annexation from parts of the Israeli government, a growing number of countries, including many in Europe, are now ready to recognize the Palestinian state, even without previous negotiation processes. Therefore, the Foreign Minister added that the peace process in the region and the Middle East is at an intersection. ”

Israel’s far-right minister returned to X/Twitter to respond, claiming that “Germany once again supported Nazism in 80 years after the Holocaust.”

Israel’s FM says Ben Giver’s comments are “unnecessary and harmful”

Ben-Gvir’s response drew condemnation from Sa’ar, who called Otzma Yehudit Head’s remarks “unnecessary and harmful.”

“I strongly reject Minister Ben Giver’s statements about Germany. They are unnecessary and harmful,” Sa’ar wrote on X/Twitter. “Germany is a friendly country and Foreign Minister Wadephul is a friend of Israel.

“Even if there is a difference between us, this will not change.”
