Republican Rep. Nancy Mace is approaching her to launch a campaign for the governor of South Carolina.

“I’m going to make a decision in the coming days,” Mays said in a digital interview with Fox News last weekend. “We absolutely tend to run for South Carolina governor’s statewide office.”

Mace responded a similar response in a Fox News interview Sunday, telling host Jon Scott, “I will make decisions about my future in the next few days.”

Mace, a third-year congresswoman who represents the state’s coastal areas, appears to give her next political step when she speaks at the New Hampshire School of Political Science on Friday.

Mace, speaking on the Politics and Egg Talk series, is essential for those who have hope in the White House, told the crowd, “not only did you choose the president, maybe you can also be here today’s next South Carolina governor here because we’ll announce it soon for that soon.”

Mays told Fox News Numbers that she bid for the South Carolina governor for many reasons.

“We have the highest state income tax in the southeast, leaving us uncompetitive with other neighbors, and the economy is growing under Donald Trump,” said Mays.

“But law and order. My state has been defeated by illegal persons and our leaders turn a blind eye. I want to protect women and children. We have this gender-bending ideology in colleges and universities in South Carolina and we have to end it.”

Mace will enter the crowded Republican elementary field in the 2026 game to replace Republican Governor Henry McMaster, the longest-serving governor of Palmeto.

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, Gov. Pamela Evette and State Sen. Josh Kimbrell are all reliably seeking Republican nominations. Republican Rep. Ralph Norman joined them on Sunday, who announced his candidacy.

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson launches bid to governor

Mays said if she launches a governor’s campaign, “we’re leading the way, it’s a two-way match between her and Wilson.”

“If I go in, I will fight for the end, and I will take the South Carolina Attorney General because he turns a blind eye to women and children and the state for many reasons. He may force me to do so.”

In a bombshell speech on the floor of a U.S. house in February, Mace claimed that Wilson ignored evidence of sexual assault on her and other women. During the hour-long speech, Mays accused four men, including her ex-wife, of sexual crimes and said she was one of the victims.

Wilson strongly denied Mays’ allegations, saying at the time: “There was never a charge to me – there was no one in my office.”

“Nancy Mace is a liar who will do everything he can to distract her free voting record. I have served our country and dedicated my civilian career to protect the children.”

“Her attacks were once again a mistake, just a distraction to her liberal agenda,” he added. “South Carolina families need a governor who fights for our values, not someone who compromises for political gain and social media clicks.”

Wilson’s campaign highlights that every sheriff in the Mays Congress District endorsed his gubernatorial campaign.

Mace retired from high school at the age of 17, working at the Waffle House, and eventually became the first female graduate of the Castle Craft Corps, winning the Congressional election in 2020.

Mace, who works in Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential election, strongly criticized his actions surrounding the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol, when Trump supporters tried to subvert Congress’ certification of incumbent President Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 election.

Trump supported Metz’s main challenger after reelection in 2022, but she successfully won reelection and reelection.

Mays later defended after the then-format president was sued for unfortunate confidential documents. She recognized Trump in the 2024 Republican presidential primary.

Trump’s control over the Republican Party, thanks to his 2024 White House victory, is stronger than ever, and his recognition in the Republican nomination game is very influential.

When asked if she could win the president’s approval, if she ran for governor, Mays told Fox News numbers: “If I could win his support, I would work hard.”

“I like being in granite because this is where real men protect women,” Metz said in his opening remarks.

“I learned in the battle in Congress that as women we still have a war to fight the far left, and they want men to be in the female space. They want men to be in our locker room. They want men to be in the bath next to our 12-year-old daughter,” she said. “And they think men can get pregnant. I’m just here saying that the biological facts aren’t like that.”
