IRCTC Update: Do this with your Aadhaar to avoid pausing your account – Capture the latest details and steps to ensure smooth booking

In the fight against abuse of its online ticketing platform, Indian Railways has decided to disable its unverified IRCTC account. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Wednesday that the railway will soon launch Aadhaar authentication or E-Aadhaar authentication online to book Tatkal tickets, allowing real users to easily get confirmed train tickets. The development was conducted with reportedly using automated booking of Tatkal tickets, where people suspected of committing crimes are suspected of being deployed by robots and using unauthorized tools to make tatkal bookings.

Are Tatkar reservations available only within the first few minutes? Railway analysis reveals shocking trends

The internal analysis of the railway covers bookings between May 24 and June 2, highlighting that only a small percentage of tickets were booked within the first minute of the Tatkar booking window. Every day, approximately 225,000 passengers book Tatkal tickets via IRCTC, the online ticket booking platform of India Railway.

For AC courses, there are only 5,615 tickets during opening hours, compared with an average of 1,08,000 tickets per day. Likewise, nearly 86% of bookings are made within the first hour of the window, while about 3.0% are booked after 10 hours, indicating that the system is running and passengers can buy tickets even hours after the window is opened.

A similar trend was noted in the non-AC category, with only 4.0% bookings made in the first minute and 22,827 bookings were booked in the second minute, compared with an average daily booking of 118,000. More than 84% of tickets were booked in the first hour, and 12% of tickets were still booked after 8-10 hours. The data challenged the general view that Tatkar bookings closed in seconds.

IRCTC News | Rail takes steps to fight back suspicious booking activities

Indian Railways deploys professional tools to support AI to identify and
Block suspicious activity.

Over 24 million user accounts have been deactivated over the past six months, with another 20 million marked suspicious and investigated based on their Aadhaar and other documents.

Currently, the IRCTC portal has more than 130 million active users. However, only 12 million of these accounts are verified for Aadhaar.

The IRCTC platform plans to perform special verification drives for non-authenticated users.

Any suspicious accounts will be suspended.

Tatkar Booking Window | Aadhaar Verified User Account Gets Preferences in the First 10 Minutes

To ensure that real passengers have priority access to Tatkar reservations, the Railway Commission has decided to prioritize Aadhaar-approved users within the first 10 minutes of the Tatkar reservation window.

During this period, even authorized agents will not allow ticket bookings.

What measures should IRCTC users take to ensure operability?

IRCTC account holders must complete their AADHAAR verification as early as possible to avoid abortion or deactivation.

This way, users can ensure uninterrupted access to advanced booking services.
