Defense Minister Katz said on Tuesday that Israel’s ongoing military strike in Lebanon sent a “clear message” to Hezbollah, accusing Islamic groups of seeking to rebuild their forces in order to violate the ceasefire agreement.
The Israeli military said earlier on Tuesday that it had begun hitting targets of the Radwan unit, the elite Hezbollah unit belonging to the Bekaa region of eastern Lebanon. Lebanese Ministry of Health said at least six people were injured during the Israeli strike.
“The ongoing strike by the IDF in Lebanon is a clear message to Hezbollah terrorist group, which is planning to rebuild its raid capabilities against Israel through the Radwan troops,” Katz said in a statement.
He added that the strike was also a message to the Lebanese government, which was responsible for maintaining the ceasefire agreement.
Hezbollah or the Lebanese government did not immediately public response to the latest Israeli strike.
Since the cross-border attacks in Hamas from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel in October 2023, Israel has launched targeted strikes against Lebanese armed group Hezbollah and members of the Palestinian faction in Lebanon.
Deputy Director Hamas was killed in an Israeli airstrike in the southern suburb of Beirut in early 2024, with other strikes striking Palestinian camps in northern Lebanon.
Israel and Hezbollah reached a ceasefire agreement in November 2024, ending more than a year of battles that swept through Israel’s war with Hamas in Gaza.
The agreement calls for disarmament by all armed groups in Lebanon and says all “unauthorized weapons” and military infrastructure should be removed, starting in southern Lebanon.

The group was designated as a terrorist entity by countries such as Canada and has been under pressure in Lebanon and Washington in recent months to completely abandon its weapons.
Since Israel destroyed its orders and killed thousands of fighter jets, Hezbollah’s difficulties have been compounded by earthquake changes in earthquake balance.
Bashar al-Assad, Hezbollah’s Syrian ally, was overthrown in December, cutting a key arms supply line from Iran, which is now standing out in strike exchanges with Israel.
