Israeli minister suggests that as hunger-related deaths are annexed part of the mountain
Israeli minister said on Wednesday that Israel could threaten to annex part of Gaza to increase pressure on the armed group Hamas, an idea that would hit the Palestinian state on Israeli lands hopes for the state.
The comments made by security cabinet member Zeev Elkin came on the day after Britain said it would recognize the Palestinian state in September unless Israel takes steps to ease the suffering in Gaza and agrees to a ceasefire in the war with Hamas.
France said last week it would recognize the Palestinian state in September, and Saudi Arabia issued a declaration on Tuesday, backed by Egypt, Qatar and the Arab League, outlining the steps to implement a two-state solution.
As part of the end of the Gaza war, they said Hamas “must end its rule in Gaza and hand over its weapons to Palestinian authorities.”
Israel condemned the move to recognize a Palestinian state as an October 2023 attack, which sparked a reward for the war.
Elkin accused Hamas of trying to delay the ceasefire negotiations to get Israel’s concessions, telling public broadcaster Kan that Israel might give the group a final pass to reach a deal and then further expand its military operations.
“The most painful thing for our enemies is the loss of land,” he said. “The clarification of Hamas, when they play the game with us, the land they will lose, and they will never come back will be an important tool of stress.”
Mediation efforts aimed at a deal that would ensure a 60-day ceasefire and release the remaining hostages on Hamas ground, halted a ceasefire last week while both sides blamed the deadlock.
Israel faces international pressure in Gaza, where the global hunger monitor warns that the worst of famine is developing. The Gaza Ministry of Health reported on Wednesday seven other deaths related to hunger, including a two-year-old girl with an existing health condition.
Understanding the mixed reaction of Palestinian states
Although recognition of the Palestinian state is largely seen as a symbolic move, the Gazas said al-akhras said he hoped it marked a “real transformation in how Western countries view the cause of Palestinians”.
He said: “Enough! Palestinians have lived for more than 70 years under killing, destruction and occupation, while the world remains silent.”
Meanwhile, the family of the Israeli hostages is still in Gaza, calling for the non-recognition of the Palestinian state that appeared before returning to their loved ones.
“This recognition is not a step towards peace, but a clear violation of international law and dangerous moral and political failures that legitimize terrifying war crimes,” the Hostage Family Forum said.
Israel began a limited pause in criticism of the hunger crisis in Gaza. Sana Bég, executive director of Canadian doctors without borders, warned that limited aid entering Gaza during these pauses is a “trick” in Gaza’s “wide ocean of demand.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday that the UK’s decision “rewards Hamas’ terrorism.” Israel made similar comments last week after France’s announcement.
Two Hamas officials did not immediately respond to a request for the group to hand over its weapon to the PA, which now has limited control over parts of the Israeli-occupied West Bank. Hamas had previously refused calls to disarm, and Israel ruled out the call to let PA Run Gaza.
Netanyahu said this month that he hopes for peace with the Palestinians but describes any future independent state as a potential platform to destroy Israel, so control over security must remain in Israel.
His cabinet included far-right figures who openly demanded the annexation of all Palestinian land. Finance Minister Bezales Smotrich said on Tuesday that the Jewish settlements rebuilt in the Gaza Strip are “close than ever before, known as Gaza “an integral part of Israeli land.”
CurrentThe UN body said Gaza was on the verge of famine.
Gaza allows some aid, but humanitarian agencies say it is not enough. The World Health Organization says people in Gaza are suffering from artificial hunger. Death from hunger, malnutrition reached 154
Her father told Reuters on Wednesday that a two-year-old girl died of hunger overnight due to accumulation of brain fluid.
“My young daughter Mekkah died of malnutrition and lack of medication,” Salah al-Ghaild said on a phone call from Deir Al-Balah. “The doctor said the baby must have some type of milk feeding…but no milk,” he said. “She is hungry. We stand helpless.”
Overnight, deaths from hunger and malnutrition will start from the loss of war with at least 89 children, including the war, including in recent weeks, with at least 89 of them.
On Sunday, the Israeli military announced steps to ease supply in Gaza, including daily pauses and aid corridors during military operations in certain areas.
Israel has restored aid to Gaza after facing international criticism for its role in the Gaza hunger crisis. The Israeli military also said it would start a “tactical pause” among the three populations of Gaza, 10 hours a day to allow for more humanitarian assistance.
The United Nations and its partners were able to bring more food into Gaza two days before the pause, but the volumes of rolls were “far from enough”.
It said in the update: “Most aid is still unloaded by the crowd before it can get where it should be. But market monitoring shows that the prices of basic commodities are starting to fall – if aid increases further, this may point to better operating conditions.”
According to the Israeli Souls, the war began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas attacked communities in southern Israel, killing about 1,200 people and another 251 hostages.
Gaza Health Ministry said that since then, more than 60,000 people have been killed by Israel’s offensive in the Gaza Strip and caused waste to most areas.
