“It's an honor”: After talking to PM Modi, Elon Musk, looking forward to visiting India

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said on Saturday he was looking forward to visiting India later this year.

This comes after a telephone conversation between the U.S. billionaire and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday. The call reflects the ongoing dialogue between the two leaders on advancing technology and innovation collaboration.

“It's an honor to talk to PM Modi. I look forward to visiting India later this year!” Musk posted on social media platform X after the call. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also participated in X to share details of their conversation.

“I spoke with Elon Musk and talked about various issues, including topics we covered at our meeting in Washington, D.C. earlier this year. We discussed the huge potential for collaboration in the areas of technology and innovation. India remains committed to advancing our partnership with the United States in these areas,”

The dialogue is based on the early face-to-face meeting held at the former home of Blair, Washington, D.C. in February. During that meeting, Modi and Musk explored collaborations across key sectors between Indian and American entities, including space exploration, artificial intelligence, innovation and sustainability.

In a statement following the February meeting, the Foreign Ministry said: “The Prime Minister and Mr. Musk discussed cooperation between Indian and American entities in innovation, space exploration, artificial intelligence and sustainable development. Their discussion also touched on opportunities to deepen cooperation to deepen cooperation among emerging technologies, entrepreneurs and good governments.”

At that time, Musk, who also led the U.S. Department of Efficiency (DOGE), accompanied his three children. Prime Minister Modi pointed out their existence and said: “It is also a pleasure to meet Elon Musk's family and talk about various topics!”

He also shared: “There was a great meeting with Elon Musk of Washington, DC. We discussed various issues, including those he was passionate about, such as space, mobility, technology and innovation. I talked about India's efforts to reform and further develop 'lowest government, largest government, largest governance'.”

Musk's upcoming visit is expected to further strengthen India-US-US cooperation in the high-tech sector and make potential investments and cooperation on the horizon.
