The 20-year-old Czech kicked off his season by lifting the ATP 250 trophy in Auckland, delivering a masterful serve when it mattered most to secure his second tour-level title.
In the final, Mencic faced Sebastian Baez and led 1-1 in the first set. Under pressure, he hit four consecutive aces to hold on to the set – a statement game that set the tone for the showdown. He was ruthless and precise at the free-throw line, hitting 18 aces to secure an overwhelming victory 6-3, 7-6(7).
