Jannik Sinner’s final defeat from the U.S. Open against Carlos Alcaraz has two and a half weeks away from Carlos Alcaraz, and he has time to deal with his four-set loss in New York and is implementing change.
The Italians overcame the Spaniard in the Wimbledon final in July but struggled to match the 22-year-old on the Flushing Meadow, Alcaraz improved 10-5 in the couple’s Lexus ATP Head2head series. The minor tweak is now the title of Sinner, who can face Alcaraz again at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Shanghai in October.
“We’re thinking a lot in the finals,” Sinner said before the opening of the China Open in Beijing. “We’re working on new things. We’re changing a lot of small things. The current mistakes will certainly be higher, but I hope this will recover.
“It’s just a matter of time. I don’t know how much I can have. [implement changes] In the actual field, because one thing is practice and the other is match. let’s see. I’m very motivated. It’s nice to look at new things and then we see how this ends. We always try to move forward. The first step is always better than the two steps backwards. Let’s see what we can do. ”
Sina has won the Grand Slam this season at the Australian Open and Wimbledon and hopes to win another title in Beijing next week, where he leads with the highest seed. The Italians won the Chinese capital in 2023 before losing to Alcaraz in last year’s championship game, which took part in the ATP 500 in Tokyo this week.
The sinner arrived in Beijing with a new member of his team after joining physical therapist Alejandro Resnicoff.
“He is an experienced physiology and is clearly on the ATP Tour for 15 years,” Sinner said. “He also had a lot of experience before he had other tennis players. He also respected the way we teamed. It’s not that he came in and changed everything. If he saw that we had or had the potential to improve my body, he would be here to help. That’s how it works.
“But it also takes time. I worked with him in the years when I wasn’t a physiology. Obviously, it’s a huge privilege to have him for me now. He’s super, super experienced.”

Sinner, the second-place player in the PIF ATP ranking, will face former Beijing finalist Marin Cilic in the opening ceremony of the ATP 500 Hard-Court event and hope to have another in-depth match to close the gap in World One Alcaraz, who returns to the highest position after the U.S. Open.
According to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index, Sina has scored 37-5 this season and has won the prestigious end-of-year event last season, so it has won this year’s Nitto ATP final.
