Jasmine Paolini qualifies for WTA finals – Rybakina or Andreeva has one spot left – Tennis Now

Jasmine Paolini becomes the seventh player to qualify for this year’s WTA Finals in Riyadh.

The WTA announced the news on Saturday. Paolini is the seventh player to earn a spot in Riyadh, joining PIF WTA world number one Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek, defending champion Coco Gauff, Amanda Anisimova, Jessica Pegula and Madison Keys Together they form a star-studded lineup.

Elena Rybakina and Mirra Andreeva are still fighting for the eighth and final singles spot.

The WTA Finals will kick off in Riyadh on February 1.

Paolini also qualified for doubles with partner Sara Errani – the only player to compete in both events.

The race to Riyadh continues next week with Elena Rybakina trying to overtake Mira Andreeva, who has chosen not to compete next week.

The former Wimbledon champion still has work to do.

Rybakina will need to win the Tokyo Olympics to qualify if she loses to Ekaterina Alexandrova in Sunday’s Ningbo final.

If she wins in Ningbo tomorrow, she will need to play the semifinals in Tokyo to advance.
