Joe Salisbury continued his stellar run at the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin on Monday as he teamed up with Neal Skupski to defeat Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic 6-3, 7-5 in the John McEnroe bracket.

Salisbury, who lifted the prestigious end-of-year trophy in 2022 and 2023 under Rajeev Ram, failed to qualify last year and have now won their last 11 games. Playing Skupski for the first time in Turin, the British pair saved all seven break points they faced. The critical moment came in the second set, with the score 5-5, 40/40, when the referee ruled that Pavich had made a foot error and Pavich committed a costly double fault at the decisive point of the game.

The fifth-seeded team ended the match on serve and now leads 3-1 in the Lexus ATP clash over Arevalo and Pavic after victories at this year’s Toronto and Cincinnati events. Salisbury and Skupski are 1-0 in the John McEnroe division and will also face Harry Heliovara, Henry Patten, Christian Harrison and Evan King this week.

Salisbury and Skuspuke teamed up on a full-time basis earlier this season and are now 43-21 on the year, according to the ATP Infosys Win/Loss Index. They reached major finals at the French Open and US Open, with championships in 2025 in Toronto, Barcelona and Doha. While Salisbury is a two-time Turin champion, Skupski’s best finish in the year-end event was reaching the semi-finals in 2022 with Wesley Koukhov.

Arevalo and Pavich shared ATP Masters 1000 titles this year in Indian Wells, Miami and Rome. Last season, they reached the final in Turin, losing to Kevin Kravitz and Tim Puez.
