The volcanic eruption was photographed by a tour guide on a helicopter. Reuters was able to confirm from the volcano surface that the video was located as kamchatka, which matched the file image of the area. The metadata verifies the date of recording the video on the original video file. Reuters also reported that Klasenikov volcano erupted earlier on August 3.

On the Telegram channel of the Institute of Volcanoology and Seismology, Olga Girina, head of the Kanchitka eruption response team, said that Krasheninnikov’s last lava effusion occurred in 1463 – plus 40 years – and that there has been no eruption since then.

The Kamchatka branch of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Services said that a height of up to 6,000 meters (3.7 miles) of gray feathers were recorded after the eruption. The volcano itself is 1,856 meters (6,089 feet).
