Canadian woman dies after falling ill at Belgium tomorrow’s music festival

A spokesman for Tomorrow’s Festival said Canadian women died after attending a large Belgian party.

Debby Wilmsen said in an emailed statement that a 35-year-old Canadian woman fell ill at a music festival on Friday.

She said the woman was granted first aid and then taken to Antwerp University Hospital, but festival organizers were told Saturday morning that the woman was dead.

Wilmson said the Antwerp prosecutor’s office is investigating the cause of death. The office did not respond to a request for information about the woman.

Canadian Global Affairs said it knew of reports that a Canadian woman died in Belgium but said it would not release information due to privacy concerns.

Spokesperson Sabrina Williams said Canadian global affairs are in contact with local authorities.

The annual festival took the main stage two days before it began Friday in the town of Boom, north of Brussels.

Tomorrowland attracts thousands of tourists from all over Europe and runs on two weekends, ending on July 27.
