On Sunday, he defeated fifth-seeded Tommy Paul 6-4, 6-3 in the event’s fifth national final. The win marked Korda’s third ATP title and his first since Washington D.C. in 2024.

“It’s tricky,” Korda said. “We were all struggling out there and it was super windy. I was just trying to put the ball on the court. I was born and raised in Florida, so I’m used to a little bit of wind, but this was definitely extreme.

Korda defeated three of the top five seeds and three players ranked in the top 25, showing the world the level of tennis he can play when his body doesn’t betray him.

Korda, ranked No. 50, has been sidelined by injuries frequently throughout his career. However, the former world No. 15 was clearly feeling 100 percent this week as he became the ninth U.S. champion in Delray Beach Open history.

Korda won the tense first set in the tenth game with the first break of the final. He recovered from the break in the second set and broke Paul’s serve in two consecutive service games to lead 4-1.

Paul saved a break point on serve at 1-4 to keep the score within limits, but he could never anger the 25-year-old Korda on the return serve.

The American won the title in style. After trailing 0-40 in the final game, he saved four break points and officially sealed the championship.
