UK property sales rose in June, providing boost to Prime Minister Rachel Reeves

Residential property transactions rose in June 2025, welcomed Prime Minister Rachel Reeves and expressed growing confidence in the housing market.
According to HMRC’s latest monthly real estate statistics, 95,080 residential properties were sold in June, and commercial transactions also showed an uptrend. These figures suggest that both sectors have returned to normal levels after recent volatility.
Heather Powell, the property head of Blick Rothenberg, a leading consulting firm, described the figures as “much-needed good news” for the prime minister, noting that both residential and commercial sales are close to the average monthly totals of the past three years, once artificial peaks and artificial peaks caused by trolls have been eliminated.
“Real estate transactions are a good barometer of economic health,” Powell said. “When businesses have confidence and optimism about the future, businesses and individuals are committed to making major deals. The Prime Minister will hope that this trend will continue and other economic statistics will follow.”
The increase in transactions is in a broader narrative of the economic recovery, which is supported by improving mortgage conditions and increased buyer equity in key urban areas. The government will keep a close eye on the coming months to see if this upward trend in real estate sales will continue to increase tax revenue and economic momentum.
