Kyrgios to play in Kooyong exhibition match – Tennis Now

Nick Kyrgios will return to action in an exhibition return.
Kyrgios, 30, has signed to compete in the 2026 Kooyang Classic, which takes place from January 13-15. Kyrgios’ entry suggests the former Australian Open doubles champion may qualify for an Australian Open wildcard.
Former world No. 13 Kyrgios joins a star-studded Kuyong lineup that includes world No. 8 Lorenzo Musetti, No. 11 Alexander Bublik, Italian Davis Cup heroes Flavio Coboli and Matteo Berrettini, American youngster Tenn, former U.S. Open champion Marin Cilic and former Miami Open champion Hubert Hulkacz.
The post-Christmas season will be a busy one on the pitch for Kyrgios.
The battle of the sexes between two-time U.S. Open champions Alina Sabalenka Former Wimbledon finalist Kyrgios will take the fight to the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai on December 28.
Kyrgios said he would like to see tennis build more competition and “more charlatanism” and believed the showdown could attract more interest in the sport.
“Tennis needs more competition. Tennis needs more charlatanism, like the NBA in the 1990s,” Kyrgios said. “You can’t please everyone.
“I’m not friends with a lot of the players and I have no interest in being a part of them.”
When being interviewed by reporters Bolavip’s Nicholas Albek was in Stockholm last monthHolger Ruhn said he fully supports Kyrgios’ return to the professional tour.

“Nick Kyrgios has always been very good to me, so we’ve always had a very good relationship. I don’t know if he will come back, but it’s good for tennis because he always has some very exciting matches.”
“[Nick’s] “When he plays against Federer, Nadal and Djokovic, his top level is very high, so you have to respect that,” Ruane said. “I know he’s struggling physically, so that’s probably the biggest thing he’s going to have to overcome. Whether he wants it or not, time will tell.”
“We haven’t talked about a new exhibition match yet, although that would be fun. I ended up playing a match with Monfils. He was very cool and it’s unfortunate that we only get to see him on tour for one more year.”
