Last Date of ITR Submission 2025: Things Salary Taxpayers Should Know

The Central Direct Taxation Commission (CBDT) has extended the last date for paid individuals to September 30, 2025, from July 31, 2025. Due to ITR forms and electronic application for utilities delayed on the income tax department’s portal.
Many taxpayers also face problems with 26AS and AIS forms.
What should salaried taxpayers know?
However, despite the extension of the deadline, taxpayers shall pay any self-assessment tax by July 31, otherwise the criminal interest provided for in Section 234A may apply.
If the taxpayer does not file an ITR (income tax return) before the deadline, they may be required to pay a fine of Rs 5,000 (if the income exceeds Rs 5 lakh), the income under Section 234F is lower income.
For belated and revised ITRs, the last date for various taxpayers is December 31, 2025.
