Lleyton Hewitt Suspensioned for selling Davis Cup officials.
The International Tennis Integrity Agency today announced that former world No. 1 and Australian Davis Cup captain Hewitt was fined two weeks and $30,000 for the incident last November. Hewitt was suspended from September 4 to October 7, 2025 to avoid being “too punished” by “influencing his Davis Cup schedule.”
The moratorium also provides Hewitt an opportunity, although ITIA noted that “to date, no appeal has been filed.”
During the suspension, Hewitt was unable to participate in all tennis-related activities, including coaching, coaching, games, captains and other related roles.
The 44-year-old Hewitt defeated a 60-year-old anti-doping official on January 6, 2025 for selling a 60-year-old anti-doping official who defeated a 60-year-old in Italy in Malaga, Spain on November 23, 2024.
Hall of Fame member Hewitt denied the charges in self-defense. ITIA said the allegation “has been reviewed with video evidence, witness statements and interviews” and was chaired by Michael Heron from July 21 to 22.
“Anti-doping personnel play a fundamental role behind the scenes in maintaining the integrity of tennis, and they should be able to play their roles without having to worry about physical contact,” said ITIA CEO Karen Moorhoue. “In this case, the line has clearly crossed and we have no choice but to act.”
