German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul called on Israel to take urgent measures to prevent Israeli travel to Vienna by Gideon Saar, who is traveling with Israel, to prevent famine in the Gaza Strip.

Before his beating with Saar and Austrian Foreign Minister on Wednesday, Wadephul said Israel has a responsibility to prevent Palestinians in Gaza from starving and ensuring they receive assistance.

He added that international humanitarian organizations must be granted immediately and assistance to those in need is not hindered.

The Foreign Minister also said that lasting peace is only possible if Palestinians without Palestinian militant group Hamas, which provide a future in Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

The war in Gaza was triggered by the attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023 by Hamas and other Islamic groups, with about 1,200 people killed and more than 250 were taken hostage.

Wadepo said Hamas must lay down his weapons and release all hostages, including German citizens imprisoned in Gaza, adding that Germany will continue to work to help the broker’s ceasefire.
