Maggie Haberman discovers Donald Trump supporters uprising
The New York Times' Maggie Haberman noted that CNN's Kaitlan Collins had a rare counterattack against Donald Trump from loyal supporters who usually use his truth social platforms.
Trump recently falsely claimed on the website: “Gas oil just lost $1.98 per gallon, the lowest in a few years.” Collins noted that the national gas average is actually currently at $3.18 per gallon.
Haberman acknowledged that while recent work figures and stock market earnings have provided some reasonable “good news” for the Trump White House, some of the president's statements about price reductions “just not comparable to reality.”
In the video she shared online, she continued, “funny” is how “a bunch of replies” said similar posts about prices to Trump’s similar posts saying “essentially, ‘not where I live,’ not where I live,’ not where I live,’ not where I live,’ not where I live.”
She noted that posts on the presidential platform “usually very complimenting” Trump. “So, in fact, he was able to continue saying this and have his own constituents who believed him to be a limitation, but he seemed to believe in himself now.”
Collins agreed, telling Harberman: “It’s really interesting because I have a social account of truth that can clearly monitor what the president says, but people who get the social account of truth are usually supporters of the president.”
Haberman replied: “I have never seen what he said before, but there are still some responses, but there are a lot of comments saying: ‘I’m not happening around me.’’
