Manipur: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation for multiple infrastructure and welfare projects in the Churachandpur district of Manipur on Saturday, reaffirming the center’s focus on strengthening the development of the Northeast state.

This is the first time the Prime Minister has visited Manipur since ethnic violence broke out in May 2023. He started a two-day tour in Mizoram, Manipur and Assam and stopped in Kuchadpur, an area largely inhabited by the Kuki community where he interacts with locals, including those affected by violence.

Key Project Foundation

Projects launched include the Manipur City Road, Drainage and Asset Management Improvement Project, a project worth over Rs 36 billion, five national highway projects totaling over Rs 25 billion, the Manipur Information Technology Development Project (Mind) Project and the establishment of women’s hotels at 9 locations.

He also interacts with students who welcome him before talking about large public gatherings.

Speaking to the crowd, Prime Minister Modi said: “Manipur is a land of courage and determination. These hills are priceless gifts of nature, and at the same time they symbolize your continued hard work. I appreciate the enthusiasm of the people of Manipur. You all came here in this heavy rain, and I thank you.”

“Due to heavy rain, my helicopter was unable to fly, so I decided to walk. What I saw on the road and after that, I was really grateful that I didn’t choose the helicopter from today. I saw the young and old people in Manipur carrying this moment in their hands, I can forget this moment, I added this moment in my life, I fell here, I fell, I got it, I got it, I bowed again, ”

Development priorities of Northeast China

The Prime Minister stressed his government’s commitment to progress in the region, saying: “The traditions and culture of the region, the vitality and diversity here, reflect the power of India. Apart from everything, the name of Manipur itself contains the Mani, which symbolizes a jewel that will enhance the gloss of the north of the coming north.”

He noted, highlighting the benefits of the projects, “These projects will improve people’s lives, especially the tribal communities living in Manipur Hills. They will provide new facilities for everyone in health and education. I congratulate the people of Manipur for this.”

PM Modi emphasizes the key needs of boundary states. “Manipur is a border country and connectivity here has been a major challenge. I fully understand the difficulties you face due to the lack of a good path. That’s why I have been focusing on constantly improving Manipur’s connectivity since 2014.”
