Marcus Rashford’s remaining football interview, smashing the record with 1.4 million streams in 48 hours

Marcus Rashford conducted an interview on the world’s emissions in the rest of the world, a new record for football for “defenders,” drawing over 1.4 million streams on YouTube, Spotify videos and podcast platforms within 48 hours of release.

The clip from the special feature, which was co-host Gary Lineker and Micah Richards, generated another 48.8 million views on social media in just two days, highlighting the global pull-in power of the Manchester United striker.

The interview was filmed live in Barcelona, which coincides with the launch time of the remaining Is Football: Laliga, Laliga is the first spin-off of a new video hosted by Lineker and Alex Aljoe, which debuted on August 19.

The Rashford plot quickly became one of the most successful releases to date, triggering international headlines in media including The New York Times, AFP, Reuters, BBC News, ESPN, The Guardian, Daily Mail and The Sun.

In a frank conversation, Rashford reflected on his high-profile moves, discussed Manchester United’s struggles and moved his journey to Barcelona with Lineker in the 1980s FC Barcelona – a licensed video of the BBC’s 1987 documentary Lineker for Barcelona.

Tony Pastor, Gothanger’s co-founder, said the episode’s success reflects Rashford’s profile and interest in long-term football storytelling.

“The incredible engagement on Spotify, YouTube and our social platforms demonstrates the appetite for smart, entertaining content. It’s just the beginning – fans can look forward to more large interviews on the rest of the season’s football.”

The episode marks another milestone for Goarnanger, now the largest independent podcast producer in the UK, who recorded over 400 million downloads on his 2024 show.

The rest is football, the company also produces podcasts that include history, the rest is politics, empire, and the rest is entertainment, reaching tens of millions worldwide each month.

With Rashford’s interview already expected to be one of the network’s most striking plots, expectations are now being launched for the launch of its new Laliga-centric exhibition aimed at bringing Spanish football closer to the global audience.
