Mikey Angelo’s three basic tools for creating virus content

You may have heard of Mikey Angelo, creator of YouTube, Instagram, and Tiktok. He is best known for producing striking songs that are skillfully weaving in his in-depth understanding of pop culture and current affairs.

And, if you’ve seen his videos, you’ll definitely notice the barrel hat. He wore one piece in almost every clip—and now, his closet has hundreds of piles of stuff.

In the Meta Night Out of Vidcon 2025, we caught up with Angelo to learn more about the tools he used to create the tools we can’t stop watching.

Mini tripod

Angelo used the basic tripod he bought from Amazon, but it played a key role in his workflow, especially before he was on a pressing deadline.

“If I thought, ‘Oh no, I have a draft that has not been taken yet today, I’m not at my regular location, mine [mini tripod] Always come in handy. ” he said.

iPhone

All of Angelo’s videos were shot on his iPhone – there are no beautiful camera settings here. Yes, he uses the front camera. He added: “I always use the selfie aspect.”

This is where the magic happens. “I work on all the work of logic,” he said. “That’s where I make all the beats and all the music, and I make vocals on it too.”

Then, while recording the video, he synchronizes the lips with the tunes and tunes. For editing, he turned to the Inshot app to put everything together.
