Mastercard expands payment partnership with Uber

MasterCard has expanded its partnership with Uber with a focus on improving payment solutions for drivers, couriers and MasterCard users on the Uber platform.
As part of this collaboration, Uber will leverage a variety of MasterCard products and services, including real-time spending on MasterCard, MasterCard, a one-time voucher to simplify payment experience, and the capabilities of MasterCard Gateway for Collections to enhance its business operations.
Mastercard currently supports Uber Pro cards in the U.S. and Canada have been renewed in these markets and will see new regional expansions, including the UK.
MasterCard said the card allows Uber drivers and couriers to get instant payments for free after each trip or delivery, as well as benefits such as cash backpack rewards for buying fuel.
“This partnership will connect more than 3.5 billion cards with more than 150 million merchants that accept Mastercard globally with a community of more than 8.5 million earners and 170 million users worldwide,” said Sherri Haymond, co-president of Mastercard Global Partners.
“By leveraging Mastercard’s end-to-end payment solutions, this deepening effort will provide Uber’s workers, small business owners and consumers with a comprehensive, trusted and seamless payment experience, while also supporting Uber’s growth.”
Combined with this extension, Uber Pro cards will also enhance payment experience by merging MasterCard One credentials (a single digitally connected credentials that offer more payment methods).
In addition, Uber’s global customer base will access MasterCard’s consumer payment products and services, including its discount platform, which will provide the unique benefits and added value for MasterCard Carddolder’s purchase of delivery and mobile services on the Uber platform.
Mastercard Gateway is the company’s global solution to deal with and prevent fraud, and will also adopt a variety of digital transactions that will enable Uber to quickly and securely accept.
