Carlos Alcaraz exits Rotterdam – Tennis Now

Rotterdam defending champion Alcaraz has withdrawn from next week’s ABN AMRO Open in Rotterdam, the tournament announced today.
Carlos Alcaraz will not defend his title in Rotterdam. The Australian Open champion concluded that after the hard work of the past two weeks, he needs more time to return to competition.

“Carlos Alcaraz will not defend his title in Rotterdam,” the event announced on social media. “The Australian Open champion has concluded that after the hard work of the past two weeks, he needs more time to return to competition.”
A year ago, Alcaraz defeated Hubert Hulkac and Alex De Minaur in three consecutive sets in Rotterdam to win his first title of the 2025 season. Alcaraz won eight championships last season and posted a 71-9 record.
In the absence of Alcaraz, Alexander ZverevHe would be the top seed after losing to Alcaraz in a brutal five-set AO semifinal. Felix Auger-Aliassime, Alex de Minaur, Jack Draper, Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Bublik and Karen Khachanov All plan to go to Rotterdam to compete.
The 22-year-old Alkaraz will next compete in the Qatar ExxonMobil Open in Doha on February 16. Alcaraz reached the quarterfinals in Doha last February, where she lost 3-6, 6-3, 4-6 to Jiri Lehecka.
