Of course, some fans have a sense of nostalgia from their 16th birthday posts, with Ringwald famously starring Sixteen candlesa coming-of-age story by Ringwald, whose family forgot that it was her 16th birthday. Sam is fascinated by Jake Ryan (Michael Schoeffling), but once she meets him with her girlfriend Caroline Mulford, she can’t try to get close to him (Haviland Morris).

Ringwald revealed that she watched one of her other popular movies, 1985 Breakfast Clubshe and her eldest daughter when she was 10 years old.
“I will be the first to admit 10 is too young to watch Breakfast Cluba movie about five high school students who made friends with one another during Saturday’s detention, had a lot of curses, sexual conversations and now famous students smoking scenes. ” she wrote in an article New Yorker In April 2018. “But my daughter insisted that her friend had seen it, and she said she didn’t want to see it for the first time in front of someone else.”
She continued: “A friend of the writer-director assured me that the kids tend to filter things they don’t understand, and I think it would be better if I was there to answer disturbing questions. So I gave up thinking that this might lead to a sweet, non-common moment of mother-daughter union.”
However, a few years later, Linwald admitted some of her films, including Sixteen candlesthere are “scenes that bother her”.
“While everyone likes to say that I have John Hughes’ ears and he does listen to me in a lot of ways, I’m not a film producer,” she told NPR in October 2018 after the #MeToo movement. “And you know, sometimes I’ll tell him, ‘OK, I think it’s a little cheesy’ or ‘I think it’s irrelevant’ or ‘that’s incorrect’ and sometimes he’ll listen to me, but in other cases, he doesn’t.”
