The school district in Champlin Park issued a statement to Fox News Digital in defending the decision to allow athletes to play on softball teams.
“Throughout the entire season, and as the Rebels advance to the state tournament, it is important to note that all of the student athletes participating for the Champlin Park Softball team are eligible to compete in compliance with Minnesota State High School League rules and applicable state law. Due to data privacy laws, the District is not able to provide public comment regarding a specific student athlete,” a statement from the Anoka-Hennepin School District stated.
“In addition, the district is named in an active lawsuit that limits the information that can be shared.”
The pitcher will now bring Champlin Park to the state championship for the first time in planning history.
The Alliance of Religious Law Firms Defends Freedom (ADF) filed a lawsuit against Minnesota. The defendants are Keith Ellison, the attorney general of Erich Martens, executive director of Minnesota High School League, Rebecca Lucero, Minnesota Human Rights Commissioner, and Willie Jett, Minnesota Education Commissioner.
“Minnesota’s female athletes are losing. The state is comparing male rights with female rights, telling girls that hard work may never be enough to win, and that they shouldn’t be fair and safe,” the league defends liberty counsel Suzanne Beecher, told Fox News Digital.
“By sacrificing protection for women athletes, Minnesota is unable to provide equal treatment and opportunities for girls, violating Title IX rules. Our clients, female athletes, can support their members by challenging the state’s discriminatory policies and advocating true sports equality.”

Ellison’s office responded to the lawsuit in a statement to Fox News Digital.
“In addition to the fun of playing sports and competing, sports brings many benefits for young people. You build friendships that last a lifetime, you will learn how to work as part of a team, and you will feel like you belong to an attribute,” the statement reads. “I think it’s wrong to pick out a group of students who are already facing higher levels of bullying and harassment and tell these kids that they can’t join the team because of who they are. I will continue to defend all the right of all students to participate in sports with friends and peers.”
Ellison also sued President Donald Trump and the Justice Department to ensure transgender athletes can continue to participate in the state’s women’s sports.

Ellison then claimed in a press conference on April 22 that he received notice from the Justice Department of Justice threatening legal proceedings if the state fails to comply with the executive order, so the AG decided to sue first.
The White House later responded to the lawsuit, condemning Ellison for taking legal action to achieve transgender.
