Mumbai: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Airport stopped flight operations for 6 hours on May 9

Private airport operator Mial said Saturday that the city's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) will be closed for six hours on May 9 due to runway maintenance work due to the start of the monsoon season.
Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) also said that a mandatory Notam (notification pilot) was issued six months in advance to inform all stakeholders, allowing airlines to adjust their flight schedules in advance and plan accordingly.
Mill said premonsoon maintenance scheduled for runways 09/27 and 14/32 will be conducted between 17 a.m.
It said that during this period, both the main runway (09/27) and the secondary runway (14/32) will be temporary non-operating.
It added that this annual pre-month maintenance is crucial to maintaining the health and longevity of airport aviation infrastructure.
Mir said experts will check the runway surface for wear to address precautions for water supply to ensure safe landing and takeoff during the monsoon season.
