Champion Alexander Bublik defeated Lorenzo Musetti in the final to become the first Kazakh player to reach the top ten. Bublik jumped one spot in the ATP rankings on Monday to a career-high No. 10. He has now won five titles since early June last year.

“The only goal this season was to get into the top ten, and I won the title in the first week and got into the top ten,” Bublik said after winning the Hong Kong event. “If you had told me last April I would never have believed you. But I’m happy and I hope to continue in the same way.”

Although Musetti lost in the final, he still moved up two spots to a career-high ranking of fifth. Musetti continues to improve since finishing in the top 10 last May.
