Wood showed up six times and walked away four times. It was the first time the batsmen have intentionally walked four times in a game since Barry Bonds in 2004.

The only other people who intentionally walk four times in a game since 1955 were Roger Maris, Garry Templeton, Manny Ramirez and Andre Dawson, who made five intentional walks in May 1990.

Wood did use the stolen base to do 1-2. The Nationals beat the angle 7-4 in 11 innings.

Wood has been one of the best players in the Nationals since joining the league in 2024. Based on his 162-game average, he has 31 home runs and 105 RBIs, with an average hit average of .274, while an OPS of .863. His number has been compared with Juan Soto and Bryce Harper.

“These are the best people in jerseys,” he said on Saturday via ESPN. “I’m sure trying to be that kind of person. They’ve been doing it – Juan Soto has been over seven years and Bryce Harper has been around for over 12 years – I know I’m still a long way to go, but it’s absolutely cool.”

More importantly, Wood must help Washington return to the winning column.

Despite the victory against the Angels, the Nationals only improved to 35-49. Since 2019, Washington has won more than 80 games – the same year Washington won the World Series of that year.
