Ohio law enforcement identified a murdered policeman who was accused of killing him after an ambush shooting that injured two other injured officers.

Michael Parker, 28, was identified by the Elyria Police Department on Thursday as the man encountered “significant shooting” officials on a phone call in Lorain, Ohio on Wednesday afternoon.

A duty officer called after radio broadcasts picked up gunshots in the area of River Bend Drive.

Elyria Police Chief James Welsh said when other Lorraine officers arrived at the site, Parker “fired” them with a “high-power rifle.”

Parker was eventually killed in exchange of gunfire, which also attacked three Lorraine officers. One of the officers was identified by the Lorraine County Sheriff’s Office as 35-year-old Phillip Wagner, who died Thursday at the hospital.

“Wagner, who is only 35 years old, has served his community for his life, a sacrifice that words can never be fully respected. He is not only a dedicated officer, but also a husband, father, son, brother and friend,” LCSO wrote on Facebook. “His influence goes far beyond the badge and his absence is deeply felt by all those who know and serve him.”

Parker’s vehicle was parked near the dead end of River Bend Drive, with “multiple high-powered documents, pistols and massively loaded magazines” allegedly inside or near the time of the search.

Suspicious luggage was also found and concerns about explosive devices were raised, prompting demands for the Lorraine County bomb squad.
