NFL Drafter Rookie Cam Miller Gets Tom Brady's Recognized Stamp

Former Boise State star running guard Ashton Jeanty headlines for the Las Vegas Raiders’ 2025 NFL draft class. But the franchise's sixth round selection caught Tom Brady's eyes.

Cam Miller, who won two FCS national titles in a remarkable career at North Dakota State, was the 215th pick in the draft last month.

Brady owns a minority stake in the Raiders. The sport-documented Brady’s close relationship with Raiders general manager John Spitke. Brady's friendship with Spytek can be traced back to the University of Michigan. Spytek also worked at the Pirates' front desk while Brady was in Tampa Bay.

The media reported that in an interview with Spytek's general manager, the seven-time Super Bowl champion and Raiders boss Mark Davis and other limited partners received calls. Given the trust building between Brady and Spytek, it suggests that the former NFL quarterback has taken Miller on the third day of the draft.

Spytek revealed that Brady had a fierce evaluation of Miller, saying: “He likes the way he throws, his skills, starts from scratch, and moves.”

The Raiders general manager added that Brady is optimistic about Miller's “progressive potential.”

Miller ended his four-year game at North Dakota with a record of 45-11. He will enter the Raiders quarterback including Geno Smith and Aidan O'Connell.

Smith last season had 4,320 yards and 21 touchdowns with 15 interceptions, and even Miller's drafting was still a favorite for starters when the Raiders opened the season.

The Raiders finished the game 4-13 last season, which led to the departure of coach Antonio Pierce and general manager Tom Telesco. Pete Carroll coaches Smith in Seattle, where he was appointed as the new head coach for the Raiders in January.

The Raiders also spent part of the offseason to ensure their important defense is locked in for the foreseeable future. Defensive end Maxx Crosby signed the wealthiest contract in league history in March. ESPN reported that his three-year extension was worth $106.5 million, guaranteeing $91.5 million. In the 2029 season, the deal tied Crosby to Las Vegas.
