On the second night of the heavy Russian attacks, at least two people were killed in Kiev
At least two people were killed overnight, Russia launched a series of drone and missile attacks on the Ukrainian capital.
At least 13 people were injured in the attack, Tymur Tkachenko, head of the city’s military administration, wrote in a telegram.
He wrote: “Unfortunately, two of us died. These people were killed by the Russians. It was a terrible loss. My condolences to my family and friends.”
As air defenses responded to multi-wave attacks, the city heard explosions of missiles and drones believed to be considered intercepted. The Ukrainian Air Force warned before incoming ballistic missiles and dozens of combat drones.
Officials said the falling drone debris triggered fires in several areas. In more than half of the country, air strike sirens are activated.
The Ukrainian Air Force said Russia attacked Ukraine with record drones and missiles on Wednesday. At night, a total of 728 Iranian-type Shahed drones and baits were launched towards Ukraine.
In addition, Russia launched seven cruise missiles and six Kinzhal Hypersonic missiles.
The number of Russian drones launched in one night was the highest, just over 500.
Ukraine has been resisting a full-scale Russian invasion for three years and urged Western allies to strengthen its air defense systems amid increasingly fierce Russian attacks.
