Phillipino Peso 3 billion seeks to add additional Bacoor stations on the LRT-1 line

The Ministry of Transportation (DOTR) said it requested an additional Phillipine Pesos of 3 billion in the city of Bacoor for the Light Rail Transport Line 1 (LRT-1) Cavite Extension.
“We requested the GAA (General Appropriations Act) of the Ministry of Budget and Management for about 3 billion pesos in 2026. This (new station) is a request from Bacoor City,” Transport Secretary Vivencio B. Dizon told reporters on Monday at the Philippine Economic Journalists Association (EJAP) Foundation.
Mr. Diesan said the proposal of the city of Baco to add a station in the Talaba barangay will not change the current consistency of the proposed route.
“We wrote to the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) because we need to coordinate this (proposal). I was told it would be easy to do this because it was in alignment. The new station will be in the middle of Zapote and Niog.”
He said DOTR has not yet predicted the number of rides on the station.
The LRT-1 Cavite expansion period is Phase 1, with a total of five radio stations, which opened last year.
The first phase added a total of 6.2 kilometers on this line, connecting the Baclaran Station in Passa City to the Santos Station in Paranak City. Most are segments of the Cavite station, or stage 3, initially covering only the LasPiñas, Zapote and Niog stations.
DOTR plans to bid for the construction of the Talaba Station and then hand it over to LRMC, the operator of LRT-1.
“Since Bowkel has future developments, it’s very likely that there will be a huge passenger there,” Dizan said.
DOTR said the latest period will complete the final phase of the LRT-1 Cavite expansion by 2030.
