PIB fact check: Viral information claims government offers free laptops to students is fake

The News Information Bureau’s Fact Check Team (PIB Fact Check) informed a WhatsApp message that it is fraudulent to provide free laptops to students as part of a national program.

Users are being misled by scammers who say the Indian government is giving students free computers. They claim that people can benefit from the deal by registering on the official website and providing specific personal information. However, PIB fact-check has confirmed that this statement is completely incorrect.

PIB wrote in a social media post about X (formerly Twitter): “A message was spread on WhatsApp, with one link claiming that the central government is providing free laptops to students.

#pibfactcheck

This message is #Fake and the URL is fraudulent.

Do not click on suspicious links.

Always verify information through official sources! ”

But the social media used by PIB fact-checking to refute the claim, calling it a scam and warn people not to click on fake links in posts.

It is recommended that the public follow official channels for announcements and only visit government websites ending in “.gov.in” to obtain verified information.
