President Donald Trump directed federal law enforcement to increase its presence throughout Washington DC in Washington DC, about a surge in violent crime, including an incident nicknamed Big Ball, who was brutally beaten on the street this week.
Trump signed an executive order in March to establish a “working group that makes DC safe and beautiful.” Now, the government takes an overall government approach by deploying additional law enforcement to improve overall security in the national capital and improve overall public safety, according to sources familiar with the plan.
The operation will use local and federal law enforcement agencies, including Homeland Security Investigation, FBI, DEA, etc., to start at midnight Thursday, and will initially last for 7 days, with the option to expand “as needed”.
Law enforcement will focus on improving the security of high-traffic tourist areas and other known hot spots.
