Prosecuted against alleged terrorist supporters in northern Israel

The suspect was reported to police after his social media account released a statement by Hamas spokesman Abu Obeida.

Israeli police have filed a prosecution against a 65-year-old Tuba-Zangaria resident for alleged incitement of terrorism and identification with three different terrorist organizations.

The man allegedly posted on social media to support Hamas, ISIS and al Qaeda.

The suspect was reported to police after his social media account released a statement by Hamas spokesman Abu Obeida, which read: “The Islamic nation will not rise until this sacred land is purified by the defilement of the occupiers.”

Northern Region police searched the man’s house on June 29 and found an ISIS flag hanging on the living room wall, as well as several weapons including machetes.

The Northern Attorney’s Office, represented by attorney Mai Saker, was charged Monday with the defendant in the District Court of Kiryat Shmona on charges of inciting terrorism, identifying with terrorist organizations and committing crimes in weapons.

ISIS support in Israel

Earlier, police arrested three Arab-Israelis from Alah near Haifa in May for their allegiance to ISIS and planning a terrorist attack in Israel.

Two adults and one minor were arrested on suspicion of allegedly conducting terrorist attacks in Israel under the name of ISIS. According to the indictment, minors have begun to express interest in the ISIS four to five years before their arrest.
