Three arrested for deadly golf course crash

Six arrested after a woman died at Aston Wood Golf Club [BBC]

Three other men were arrested for the death of a woman who was hit by a van on a golf course near Sutton Coldfield.

Suzanne Cherry, 62, of Aldridge, died Tuesday at the hospital at Aston Wood Golf Club, where she was attacked by a grey Nissan Van, the health department involved police pursuit.

Staffordshire police said three men were arrested on Wednesday, two of whom remained in custody. The third one has been released on bail.

A spokesman for the troops confirmed that three other men were arrested in connection with Ms Cherry's death on Friday.

Two men from Coseley, 36 and 26, near Dudley, were arrested on suspicion of assisting the offender, one in three, a 34-year-old criminal from Westbury, who was detained on suspicion of manslaughter.

The other two people in custody were a 51-year-old man from Broxwich who was detained on suspicion of murder and a 22-year-old man from Dudley was detained on suspicion of manslaughter and assisting criminals.

Staffordshire police said police had more time to inquire with the two suspects.

The suspect was released on bail on a 41-year-old man in Worcester and was arrested on suspicion of assisting the offender.

Anyone who provides information that facilitates the investigation is urged to contact Staffordshire Police.

The Independent Office of Conduct for Police (IOPC) is investigating the situation before the collision when officers from West Midlands police responded to vehicles involved in reports of suspicious activities.
