Trump’s “Big and Beautiful Act” becomes law, Elon Musk mocks “Fireworks”

Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, spent what he did best on July 4: sparking speculation, causing controversy and suggesting huge political moves – all behind the keyboard.

Tesla and SpaceX CEO’s patriotic post on his platform X (formerly Twitter) begins the Independence Day in the United States: “🇺🇸🇺🇸 Happy birthday, USA!🇺🇸🇺🇸”

But it was his follow-up that did cause an alarm: “Some…fireworks 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥”

Is Musk referring to literal fireworks? Or is this a mysterious signal that political fireworks are about to explode?

The timing is no coincidence. On July 3, Congress passed signed legislation by President Donald Trump, the so-called “a large bill,” a comprehensive package that includes massive spending cuts, the end of clean energy subsidies, and controversial changes to the social safety net program. Trump is expected to sign the bill on July 4.

Musk has strongly opposed the legislation. On June 30, he threatened to form a new political force if it became law:

“If this crazy spending bill passes, the U.S. party will be formed the next day,” Musk said. “Our country needs to replace the Democratic Republican Federation so that the people actually make their voices.”

Now, the bill has passed, at least online seems to be following Musk.

Musk Independence Day Poll

On July 4, Musk escalated things further with a sharp new poll: “Independence Day is an excellent time to ask if you want to be independent from a two-party system (some would say Uniparty) system! Should we create the American Party?” he asked. X users have two options: “Yes” or “No”. As of this writing, nearly 400,000 people voted, with the post having more than 3.6 million views. The poll is scheduled to end on July 5.

Musk has a record of using Twitter polls to make major decisions. In November 2022, he investigated users to restore Donald Trump’s banned Twitter account. After 15 million votes (52% in favor), Musk reactivated the former president’s profile.

In 2021, he asked his followers whether they should sell 10% of Tesla shares to pay taxes. In 58% of the voting rights, he sold $5 billion worth of stock.
So people pay attention when Musk suggests that polls may shape the real world actions.

Strategy or stunt?

Musk even outlined the reality of third-party rebellion.

“One way to do this is to focus the laser on only two or three Senate seats and eight to ten House areas,” he wrote. “Given the edge of the legislation of the razor, this is enough as a decision to decide on controversial laws to ensure they serve the true will of the people.”

This strategic idea attracted voters’ frustration with the two major parties. A 2024 Gallup poll found that 43% of Americans are now identified as independents, the country’s largest political group. Still, it is unclear whether Musk’s American Party is a real plan or a political theater.

He had previously flirted with high-profile political moves just to back down. But this time, Musk may be more severe than ever as Trump returns to power, despising bills that become law and increasing pressure on large tech and clean energy companies like Tesla.

Whether it is the beginning of a political movement led by Musk or another mysterious July 4 show, the billionaire once again positioned himself at the most flammable center of dialogue in the United States.

The mysterious message sparked a series of speculation on X, and some users wondered if it hints about the formation of a political party or something completely different. “If Elon Musk had formed the American Party, would you support him?” a X user commented.

Humor also surfaced during serious inquiries. “I can’t…. I don’t want to know,” one account joked, another account quipped, “did you blow up another Rocket?” In order to nod, the billionaire’s Rockets company.
