Rafael Jodar impressed at the PIF Next Generation ATP Finals in Jeddah last month and the 19-year-old Spaniard has now announced his decision to turn professional ahead of the 2026 season.

On Wednesday, Jordahl posted on Instagram that he would end his college career after playing for the University of Virginia Hoosiers in 2024 and 2025. The 19-year-old Jordal won 2-1 in Jeddah last December, with group-stage wins over top seeds and eventual champions Learner Tien and Martin Landaluce.

“After a period of deep reflection, careful consideration, and many conversations with my family and coaches, I have decided to forgo the remainder of my college eligibility at UVA and pursue my professional tennis career beginning in 2026,” Jordahl wrote. “My college years have played a huge role in my growth as a player and as a person, and I am now ready to take the next step and face new challenges in my life.”

Jordahl, who also won three ATP Challenger titles in 2025, will begin his career at No. 168 in the PIF ATP Rankings. He won his third of three Challenger titles in early November in Charlottesville, reaching a career-high ranking of No. 166.
