On Sunday, members of the ATP First Club, including Rafael Nadal, Marat Safin and John McEnroe, descended on Rod Laver Arena to watch the historic Australian Open final between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic.

Safin, the 2005 Melbourne champion, presented the Norman Brooks Challenge Cup before the men’s singles final and then took his seat. Jim Courier, McEnroe and Mats Wilander all commentate during the majors and were in attendance for Sunday’s title showdown.

This is Nadal’s first hard-court Grand Slam event since his retirement in 2024. The Spaniard, who won the title in Melbourne in 2009 and 2022, has a 77-16 record at the event during his career, according to the Infosys ATP Win-Loss Index.

Ahead of last month’s tournament, No. 1 club members Roger Federer, Andre Agassi, Lleyton Hewitt and Patrick Rafter took part in an entertaining doubles exhibition match on opening night at Melbourne Park.

On the court on Sunday, Alkaraz and Djokovic, two active members of the ATP First Club, performed well in the first three sets.
