Rafael Nadal will return to Jeddah for the Next Generation ATP Finals hosted by PIF, which will take place from December 17 to 21. The Spanish superstar is an ambassador for the Saudi Tennis Federation and will take part in a number of events during the tournament aimed at inspiring young generations globally and locally.

One of the highlights on this year’s agenda is that the former PIF ATP No. 1 player will take part in a meet-and-greet at the King Abdullah Sports City fan zone on 19 December.

“I am looking forward to returning to Jeddah for the Next Generation ATP Finals,” Nadal said in a press release. “I received the warmest welcome in Saudi Arabia and I feel like there is a real energy in tennis.

“As I have always said, my goal is to help inspire the next generation in Saudi Arabia and around the world. Partnering with STF [Saudi Tennis Federation] Developing the huge potential of tennis in a kingdom that has already made impressive progress is one of the key factors. The reason I came back was to see development at all levels and help make that happen. I’m proud to help more kids pick up a racket, play a game, or just discover something new they love. “

Last year, Nadal held a meet-and-greet in Jeddah, attended the awards ceremony of the U14 STF Championship, and held a clay-court coaching clinic for young Saudi tennis players at The Racquet Space. Nadal visited the Onyx Arena to meet players participating in the first wheelchair tennis tournament in Saudi Arabia and met with the Saudi Davis Cup players.

Nadal also held a roundtable conversation with ATP Tour stars Jakub Mensik, Alex Michelsen and Brazilian Joao Fonseca, who went on to win the Under-20 title.

This year’s Jeddah venue will feature last year’s finalists Learner Tien, Alexander Blockx, Dino Prizmic, Martin Landaluce, Nicolai Budkov Kjaer, Nishesh Basavareddy, Rafael Jodar and Justin Engel.
