Expanding Horizons: Ascott, Philippines marks 25 years of defining global life

An unforgettable evolution celebrates with a feast
Ascott entered the Philippines market in 2000 when he opened in Somerset Millennium Makati. Since then, the company has expanded to 17 properties in 17 major cities across the country, while elevating service experience to global standards. Ascott showcases high-end modern amenities and Filipino signature brands through five different brands: Ascott, Oakwood, Citadines, Citadines, Somerset and Lyf.
25Th Ascott’s anniversary celebration captures the company’s journey in the Philippines, reflecting its immersiveness and impact on the local market. The National Museum of Natural History, like Yayana, promotes the idea of a rich blend of modern elegance with Filipino culture, proves to be the perfect atmosphere for a festive night full of reasons to celebrate. Wearing nine matches on their best modern Filipinos, guests were given exquisite art performances and excellent culinary works.
Setting the mood is a showcase of world-class talent, including the amazing opening performances of the Philippine Ballet Theatre and the Manila Quartet. The highlight of their performance was that ballerinas directed guests and Yashi officials to place 2,000 electronic candles on the iconic steps of the National Museum, meaning the first Ascott properties launched a brand new home in the Philippines.

In a true Filipino way, dining experience is a major part of Ascott 25Th– News celebrations. The feast begins with a salad called Solana, inspired by the Spanish “Sunlit Place”. Features grilled eggplant and local mesk-like, this dish has a delicate flavor and is tropical fueled with a mango vinegar. Then, Sultada Surf’n Turf is a bold mixture of filet mignon and chunky crab cakes, paired with pureed sweet potatoes and Adlai rice, all bundled with rich beef. This dish is named after the Filipino word”Surtada”, which refers to the exciting conflict, embodying a dynamic contrast of land and ocean flavors in a dish. The first Diamond Star Award of the night was given to Melesa “Elsie” Chua, the owner of Ascott’s first property in Somerset Millennium Makati, Philippines, and it was appropriate. The trophy represents Ascott’s appreciation for the recipient’s valuable partnership and commitment to a shared vision for enriching global life.

The funds were raised from a year-long campaign, which ran from March 5, 2024 to March 31, 2025, that called on guests to support a vital cause by purchasing any of Ascott’s delightful plus characters, that is, Cubby, Tami Tami Tami, Paw the Pawikan, Philippine Eagle Gila and Tara the Tarsier.
