Russian missiles, drone attacks attack Kiev, killing 7 people and injuring 82
Ukrainian authorities said Thursday that Russia attacked the Ukrainian capital with missiles and drones overnight, killing at least seven people, including a six-year-old boy and injuring 82 people.
Tymur Tkachenko, head of the military administration department of Keefe, said there were ten children, the youngest was five months old. He said a nine-story residential building collapsed after the crash.
The rescue team was on the scene looking for people trapped under the rubble.
Yana Zhabborova, 35, a resident of the damaged building, woke up with a thunderous sound that blew away the doors and windows of her home.
“It’s just stress and shock,” Zhabborova said.
The Ukrainian Air Force said Russia drove 309 Shahed and bait drones, as well as eight Iskander-K cruise missiles overnight. Ukrainian air defense was intercepted and blocked 288 strike drones and three missiles.
Five missiles and 21 drones hit the target.
Russia says it shoots down drones overnight
Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Thursday that it had shot down 32 Ukrainian drones for overnight stays.
Local Governor Melnichko said a drone attack sparked fires at an industrial site in the Pensa region of Russia.
He did not immediately provide more details other than saying there were no casualties.
The state railway operator, Russian Railways, said that in the Volgograd region, some trains also stopped.
The Russian Ministry of Defense also said its forces have complete control of the strategically important Chasiv Yar city in the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine.
Ukrainian officials usually do not confirm the retreat but do not comment immediately.
Zelenskyy calls on allies to put pressure on Moscow
Russian and Ukrainian troops have fought to control Chasiv Yar for nearly 18 months. It includes a mountaintop from which troops can attack other key points in the region, forming the backbone of Ukraine’s eastern defense.
A report from the Ukrainian Army General Staff on Thursday said seven clashes occurred in Chasiv Yar in the past 24 hours. The included map shows that most of the town is under Russian control.
Deepstate, an open source map of Ukraine widely used by the military and analysts, showed earlier Thursday that communities in the southern and western regions of Chasiv Yar remained the so-called gray areas, or neither side could control it.
U.S. President Donald Trump appeared with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Monday, telling reporters that he would raise the deadline on Russian President Vladimir Putin, adding: “We just can’t see any progress.”
The attack targeted Kiev, Denipro, Poltava, Sumi, Mikorav, and Ukraine’s capital are all the main targets of Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“Today, the world sees once again the answer to our desire for peace with the United States and Europe,” Zelensky said.
“New exemplary killing. That’s why peace is impossible without power.”
He called on Ukraine’s allies to follow their defense commitments and put pressure on Moscow to conduct real negotiations.

Tekakenko said at least 27 locations in the attack were attacked, causing the heaviest losses in Solomonsenki Island and Sviacinski areas. He said Kiev damaged more than 100 buildings, including houses, schools, kindergartens, medical facilities and universities.
U.S. President Donald Trump said Tuesday he will give Russian President Vladimir Putin a shorter deadline on August 8 – for progressive peace efforts, otherwise Washington will impose punitive sanctions and tariffs.
