Ruud switches to his head size on Yonex Ezone – Tennis Now

Casper Ruud is the latest top player who can change his gear. The former second-ranked head is smaller in size, and hopefully this change will help him become more free on a faster hard court.
“Not the biggest change,” Rud confirmed in court after defeating Riley Opelka in the Laver Cup on Friday. “Just make some adjustments: frame size, head size, balance, weight. You can do a lot of adjustments and things here and there. So it’s still the same frame, just the head size is smaller and it works well today.
Ruud, 26, ranked 12th, said he had time to practice the new specifications after losing the second round at this year’s U.S. Open.
“I feel like I have more control over the shots and I can be fuller, especially on tough courts and indoors, faster courts,” he said. “I’ve struggled over the past few years, and in a fast court, I’ve been so hesitant that I feel like I can swing freely because I feel like the ball is flying. [off] I have a little more rackets, so it’s time to try a small change. ”
